Electra Heart Exhibition

Electra Heart is an album by singer and songwriter Marina (formerly known as Marina and the Diamonds). Electra Heart is a conceptual album that covers the pressures of The Hollywood Life and female archetypes within. Taking inspiration from Cindy Sherman, Vallery of the Dolls, Greek mythology, and other pop culture iconography. Marina creates a masterpiece of electric pop music that at first glance seems like any other shallow piece of art, but when examined closely covers topics of suicide, eating disorders, media influence, and societal pressures. This exhibition is titled “The Life and Inspiration of Electra Heart” and goes into where the ideas for this album came about, and while exploring the path the character Electra Heart took and where she ended up.

The Logo uses the Cooper Black font with illumination, a direct call to how the title of the album was created.

Poster

The poster is influenced by the end of Marina’s “Electra Heart” era. On social media people took to making fake newspaper covers of how the character died, which so happened to be by sleeping pills. This poster mimics that same social media movement and incorporating pills into the design. I added other recreational pills to indicate and draw attention back to the Hollywood life explored within the music.
